What is a megawatt?

A megawatt (MW) measures electrical capacity — how much power a plant can deliver when running. One thousand MW = 1 GW. Household demand is often talked about in kilowatts; a large offshore wind farm is hundreds of MW.

Carbon intensity

Grams of CO₂ per kWh on the GB grid, published half-hourly by NESO’s Carbon Intensity API. Low intensity usually means more wind/nuclear/solar relative to fossil generation. Live Grid shows the latest national figure.
